Wash-water effluent product recovery

PCI Membranes was contacted by a multinational consumer goods company that specialises in producing a wide range of hygiene and personal care products, to evaluate the feasibility of using a tubular membrane system for the treatment of a laundry detergent wash-water resulting from one of their global manufacturing sites, with a target to concentrate the wash-water to a satisfactory level whilst generating a permeate stream that is good enough for disposal into the local sewer network.

Multi-stage Treatment of Landfill Leachate: case study in Northern Europe

Due to the nature of leachate and more stringent environmental legislation that prohibits the discharge of this wastewater into a sewer network or nearby river/lake, a waste treatment company located in a Scandinavian region has decided to explore the most suitable treatment options available on the market.

A Polish company specialized in potato starch processing is able to save 2.4 million Euros by using a membrane filtration system

A Polish company manufacturing potato-based products needed help with its process wastewater stream. To resolve discharge problems they requested to concentrate and remove as much protein and potassium resulting from the centrifuge decanting line. Fortunately, thanks to a tubular reverse osmosis membrane system supplied by PCI Membranes, it has been demonstrated that it is possible to use a single treatment process to minimize protein residues in the permeate stream and eliminated the need to build a new biological wastewater plant or purchase expensive evaporators.

Rural Water Supplies with Difficult Sources

To overcome the shortcomings of the existing system, North of Scotland Water required improvements to be made in both drinking water quality and the available raw water quantity.

Multi-stage Treatment of Landfill Leachate: case study in Germany

At Damsdorf in Germany, the existing 15-hectare landfill site, which had no bottom sealing or leachate collection system was approaching capacity. A new site was constructed in 2 sections, each of 6 hectares, with a total refuse capacity of 3 million cubic metres.

Ultra-compact Water Plant

As with many Highland burn sources, the raw water at Achnasheen is both variable in quality and quantity, leading to peaks of colour and turbidity, particularly when the burn is in spate.

World’s Largest Tubular Membrane Effluent Treatment Plant of bleached magnifite pulp

The average COD of this effluent is approximately 10gm/litre, therefore a total of about 3 tonnes of COD is produced every hour. Due to stricter legislation, and the need to be “green”, it became necessary for Stora Nymölla to obtain the “Swan” mark for their products.
